Pancake Breakfast

The grade 12 mission team for 2017-18 is hosting a pancake breakfast for Elementary, Middle and High School Students.

The purpose of this special event is to promote community in the school and assist the mission team with the financial aspect of the mission trip to El Salvador which is set for February 11th – 21st. This year ALL of the proceeds of the breakfast will go directly to materials, sports equipment and construction supplies in order to benefit those in El Salvador who we will be serving.

The doors of the school will open early, to accommodate an 8:30am start to the breakfast that will run until approximately 9:15am, so that the classes can begin with limited delay. The breakfast will feature pancakes (chocolate chip or plain), with a variety of toppings such as whipped cream, syrup & bananas) and juice. The cost of the breakfast is $2 for smaller portions (1 pancake), $4 for large portions (2-3 pancakes) and $1 for a canned juice drink. Parents are also welcome to attend the breakfast.

Donations are welcome.  There is a limit of 200 slices available.  Orders are on a first come first served basis, but all orders are due by November 22.

The fundraising goal is listed as $35,000 however the expected costs for home-restoration and replacement of lost possessions is expected to be much higher than this – more than likely exceeding $50,000. Depending on the combined value of the various estimates received from contactors, which continue to be revised as the extent of the damage is more accurately assessed, and also dependent upon the findings of an engineer’s inspection and subsequent report, it is possible that this figure could even approach $100,000. So there is no doubt that the fundraising goal of $35,000 is a very conservative one at this point in time and that it will likely require much more than this amount to restore and/or replace what has been lost.
